Halo Infinite, released in 2021, was supposed to extend Master Chief’s saga over ten years. But, only four years in, Halo Studios has confirmed that it will end active development. On November 18, Operation: Infinite will launch, marking the last significant update.
This upcoming update promises interesting features like double boosts on Career Rank and Spartan Points, a 100-tier Operation Pass, eight new armor sets, and a total of 200 new customization options in The Exchange. It seems like one last push to engage players as they transition to what’s next.
Changing Focus to New Projects
Halo Studios is now shifting its focus towards new projects, notably Halo: Campaign Evolved. The team expressed gratitude to the community for their unwavering support, stating, “Your excitement is the lodestar for our every effort.” They plan to keep players involved through community events and feedback.
In a reflective note, the studio acknowledged their journey, filled with seasons, events, and player-generated content. They see player feedback as vital to anticipating future developments.
Leadership Changes Affecting Development
The announcement follows notable changes within Halo Studios, including the departure of art director Glenn Israel. After 17 years with the franchise, he hinted at potential discontent, coinciding with recent layoffs at Microsoft.
The studio has been through a lot recently, emphasizing that community enthusiasm remains a driving force behind their future endeavors.
