Cameron Skattebo American Football Running Back for the New York Giants
Tag: Cam Skattebo
Cameron Skattebo, born February 5, 2002, in Rio Linda, California, is an American professional football running back for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). A 5-foot-11, 228-pound downhill runner with deceptive 4.5-speed, Skattebo parlayed record-breaking college production into a fourth-round selection (105th overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Skattebo began his collegiate career at Sacramento State, where he totaled 2,742 scrimmage yards and 32 touchdowns in two FCS seasons before transferring to Arizona State in 2023. As a Sun Devil he became a national cult figure, leading the nation with 3.1 forced missed tackles per carry and logging 1,691 all-purpose yards his senior year while playing through a shoulder sprain.
Inserted immediately into New York’s injury-depleted backfield, Skattebo erupted for 398 rushing yards and five touchdowns in his first seven professional games, including a Week-6 masterpiece versus Philadelphia in which he rushed for 98 yards and three scores—the first Giants rookie to do so since 2020 . His physical, tackle-breaking style earned an 80.5 PFF grade, second-best among first-year backs, and vaulted him into ESPN’s top-10 rookie rankings alongside teammates Jaxson Dart and Abdul Carter .
Unfortunately, Skattebo’s momentum was halted in Week 8 when he suffered a dislocated right ankle against the Eagles, requiring season-ending surgery . Team officials say the procedure “went well” and expect a full recovery for 2026 OTAs.
Off the field, Skattebo is known for relentless film study and community work, having launched the “Skattebo Squad” initiative that provides free youth camps in both California and New York. If rehabilitation proceeds as planned, the Giants envision him as their bruising early-down complement to pass-catching back Saquon Barkley, forming a tandem aimed at reviving one of the league’s least productive rushing attacks.
