Snapchat is introducing a fee for storage of its Memories feature, limiting free storage to 5GB. Users exceeding this limit must either export their Memories or subscribe to a paid plan to keep them.
New Storage Plans for Snapchat Memories
Snapchat will offer new storage plans, charging $1.99 per month for up to 100GB. Users with Snapchat+ can access 250GB for $3.99, while Snapchat Platinum subscribers will receive 5TB for $15.99 per month.
If users do not sign up for a plan and exceed the 5GB limit, their oldest Snaps will remain saved, while newer ones will be deleted.
Methods to Preserve Your Snapchat Memories
You can save your Memories for free in two ways. One option is to download them directly to your camera roll, though this limits you to 100 at a time, which may take time if you have many Snaps.
To export, go to the Memories icon in the Snapchat app, select up to 100 Snaps, then tap “Export” and choose “Download” to add them to your camera roll.
Using the Download My Data Tool
Another alternative is using the “Download My Data” tool, which allows you to request an archive of your Memories in a .zip file emailed to you.
To use this tool, navigate to your Profile, access Settings, and choose the “My Data” option. Select the types of files you want and confirm your email before submitting your request.
