NASHVILLE — A caution from Keith Urban’s former fiancée, Laura Sigler, has resurfaced amid Nicole Kidman’s recent divorce filing. Sigler, a veterinary technician who dated Urban for nearly eight years and became briefly engaged to him, predicted that any future relationship of his “won’t last very long”.[1]
Early Years with Laura Sigler
Urban and Sigler began dating in the mid-1990s and stayed together until around 2002. During that time they became engaged. In a 2006 interview with The Sun, Sigler said, “Nicole and Keith might date for a while but it won’t last very long. I don’t know her, but I know him very well”.[1]
Allegations of Infidelity and Substance Use
Sigler alleged Urban had “numerous flings” during their relationship and struggled with alcohol and drug use. “He was a drunk and a drug user. He has an addictive personality and always wants more. I am not sure he can make any one woman happy,” she told Mail on Sunday via The Sydney Morning Herald.[2]
Kidman and Urban’s Marriage Timeline
Kidman and Urban met at the G’Day USA gala in January 2005. They began dating months later and announced their engagement in May 2006. They married on June 25, 2006, in Sydney. The couple has two daughters: Sunday Rose, born July 7, 2008, and Faith Margaret, born December 28, 2010.[3]
Urban’s Recovery and Kidman’s Support
Following an intervention in late 2006, Urban entered treatment for alcohol dependence. In a 2014 Rolling Stone interview, he described Kidman’s support as “invaluable” to his recovery.[4]
Divorce Filing and Reasons Cited
On September 30, 2025, Kidman filed for divorce in Davidson County, Tennessee, citing irreconcilable differences and listing the date of separation as September 29, 2025. Insiders cite long periods apart and career demands as factors contributing to the split.[3]
Significance of Sigler’s Statement
Sigler’s remarks offer insight into Urban’s personal challenges behind the scenes and prompt a reassessment of the couple’s public image.
