Fortnite’s Halloween event features an extensive lineup of crossovers, but the announcement was complicated by a social media mistake involving rapper Doja Cat and a mention of an adult toy.
Doja Cat’s Involvement in the Event
This year’s Halloween festivities focus on Doja Cat, who appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to introduce her in-game character, Mother of Thorns, which acts as a boss in the event.
Last night, Fortnite allowed Doja Cat to “take over” its X account. However, the situation turned awkward when a post referenced “rose toys,” an adult product. Doja Cat later clarified that she had requested Epic Games not to make that reference.
Details on the Incident
After the inappropriate post, Doja Cat expressed her embarrassment on X, calling it “cringe.” The post was quickly deleted by Fortnite, and she also removed her messages about the incident.
While some speculate the incident was planned, it seems unlikely that Fortnite would risk its reputation by discussing adult items. The game remains popular among younger audiences.
New Content and Collaborations
Fortnite will offer a skin for Doja Cat and characters like Wednesday Addams, Jason Voorhees, and Ghostface in its Shop. Additional horror-themed collaborations will include characters from Poppy’s Playtime.
A new map, Nitemare Island, will launch on October 10, featuring a Halloween-themed landscape. This year’s event comes right after the KPop Demon Hunters collaboration, which will continue until November 1.
