Apple today introduced the 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M5 chip. It retains the familiar design and $1,599 starting price of its predecessor but adds substantial gains in CPU, GPU, and AI performance.
Processor and AI Engine
The M5 system-on-chip features:
10-core CPU (4 performance cores, 6 efficiency cores) for multithreaded tasks.[1]
16-core Neural Engine for on-device machine learning.[2]
153 GB/s memory bandwidth to accelerate data-intensive workloads.[2]
Apple states M5 delivers up to 20 percent faster multithreaded CPU performance versus M4, speeding code compilation and software builds.[1]
Graphics Performance
A 10-core GPU with per-core neural accelerators enables:
Up to 1.6× faster rendering in professional apps and games.[1]
Real-time effects with 3.5× faster AI video enhancement in Topaz Video.[3]
