Actor and director Timothy Busfield is currently wanted by authorities following child sexual abuse charges. Four days ago, New Mexico law enforcement obtained a warrant for his arrest, and US marshals are assisting in the search for him.
Search for Busfield Continues
Albuquerque police are collaborating with US marshals, who specialize in locating fugitives, but have not provided a timeline for Busfield’s arrest. He faces three allegations: two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and one count of child abuse.
The accusations stem from twin 11-year-old boys, identified by initials SL and VL, who allege that Busfield inappropriately touched them on the set of The Cleaning Lady, a TV series he directed and acted in. The police affidavit details these claims.
Details of the Allegations
In the affidavit, SL stated that Busfield disguised the inappropriate actions as playful behavior. SL has since been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder due to the experiences, suffering from nightmares about the incidents.
Investigation into Busfield began in November 2024 after a doctor contacted the police regarding the boys’ mother’s report to child protective services about abuse occurring from November 2022 to spring 2024.
Busfield’s Background and Previous Accusations
Busfield has faced sexual assault allegations in the past, including incidents in 1994 and 2012. In 1994, he was accused of serving alcohol to a minor and assaulting her; the case was settled privately. In 2012, another claim of fondling was made but did not lead to criminal charges.
The Cleaning Lady aired for four seasons until 2025, featuring Busfield and actress Elodie Yung. Warner Bros, which produced the series, investigated the allegations but found no corroboration.
